Let’s start from the beginning
Ok so how did a British-French family end up in a small mountain town in Georgia? Great question! We moved to Nashville in 2019 from Paris, France and we always dreamed of owning a cabin (like on the movies ha!)
We looked for months in the smoky mountains but after putting in around 40 offers, none of which came to fruition. The market was insane at this time (late 2019/2020) and offers were going up to $50,000 over asking and so many contingencies. So we decided to take a break and then somehow the blue ridge mountains came into the equation. It was a lower price point and slightly less competitive. We loved the quaint blue ridge downtown and the fact it felt more peaceful than the smokeys.
Then finally in september 2021 when we closed on the cutest cabin.
At the time, lots of people were diving into the market so we had missed out on a few cabins but we loved that this one was on 2.5 acres and at the end of a really secluded road. Despite there being other cabins around it felt so private and peaceful. It was in a cute little community called cherry log which is a short 10 minute drive from downtown blue ridge and a short drive to so many incredible hiking trails
We spent a few weeks initially setting it up and modernising everything. We loved the fact the cabin had been owned by one family and two daughters - having two daughters ourselves. It was built in 1998 - we put a new metal roof, installed a dreamy fireplace, added new lighting, new bathroom…..
It became our favourite place to visit and a place we felt we could truly switch off even if we just loved fixing, updating and making the cabin better and better.
And then the fire happened.
